Home, yet far away!

The world is getting smaller. Not in the literal sense of course. If anything, I like to believe the universe is expanding. However, with advancement of technology(I refrain from saying 'advent of technology' because while it took several years for the core technology to emerge, the upgrades are so fast and competitive and pretty-much arriving at a daily pace), we are everywhere and every little task is at the tip of our fingers. Life as we know it has changed radically.
Once in a while though, I miss home. Not the home I grew up in. Thanks to the said technology, I am in constant contact with my dear ones. Of-late, however, I have begun to miss something I never knew was a part of me. I have two children who I communicate with in my mother tongue, Telugu and entertain my older with one facts from my childhood which include references to objects and places from my hometown. I wonder why it is so hard for him to relate to things I talk about. Surely, people in other states have had similar experiences but what with new appliances and high end life style, we don't see the objects from the past. As I write this I realise, time has gotten more transient that it ever was. I am certain if I go back to my village now, I will still miss home.
